Production
Production Before Delivery
House of Vere garments are made to order, woven exclusively for the brand, and require multiple stages of production before dispatch. Please note that delivery times begin only after your garment has been completed.
Your order may include the following stages:
- Tartan weaving (up to 6 months)
- Finishing at the mill
- Cut, Make & Trim (CMT) by specialist Scottish tailors
- Final inspection, pressing and packing
These production times can vary depending on mill capacity, seasonal demand, and tailoring workload, which can ultimately affect your shipping costs as well. Our focus on quality ensures that every tartan garment is crafted to perfection.
Tailoring times
Estimated Production & Delivery Timelines for Tartan Garments (Kilts, Skirts, Waistcoats, Trews, Ponchos, Serapes, Shawls):
Weaving time: up to 6 months
Tailoring/CMT: 4–8 weeks
Dispatch: 3–7 working days, ensuring efficient delivery times.
Tartan Accessories (Ties, Bow Ties, Pocket Squares, Scarves):
Usually dispatched within 4–6 weeks, depending on cut availability and tailor queue, which may affect overall delivery times.
Canvas & Leather Bags:
Typically dispatched within 2–3 weeks, unless stated otherwise, keeping shipping costs in mind.

Shipping fees are calculated at checkout based on:
- item weight
- destination
- packaging
- tracking/insurance requirements
Shipping costs are VAT-chargeable under UK law.
Partial Shipments
If an order contains both ready-made accessories and made-to-order tartan garments:
- Items may be shipped separately,
- At no extra cost to you,
- To ensure you receive available products without waiting for the full garment production.
Customs, Duties & Local Taxes
International customers are responsible for:
- any customs charges
- import duties
- local taxes
These are set by your country’s customs authority and cannot be pre-calculated by House of Vere.
Delivery
Missed Deliveries & Incorrect Addresses
Customers are responsible for providing correct delivery information to ensure smooth shipping times. Re-delivery fees may be charged for incorrect or incomplete addresses.
Once an item has been dispatched and tracking details issued, House of Vere is not responsible for lost packages caused by:
- incorrect delivery details
- failure to collect from a sorting office
- refusal of customs charges
- courier delays outside our control
Tracking
All orders are shipped fully tracked, and tracking information is emailed automatically once your item is dispatched.
Pre-Order Items
Any tartan garments requiring weaving will be clearly marked as a pre-order item. By placing a pre-order, you accept:
- the weave time
- the tailoring time
- the dispatch timeframe
as part of the purchase agreement, including any associated shipping costs.

House of Vere is managed by a Level 5 qualified legal undergraduate, ensuring that all policies and procedures are written with clarity, transparency, and compliance in mind. This protects both you as the consumer and the business as the supplier.
